About Charles County Farm Bureau

Charles County has a long agricultural history that has not stood still. Tobacco once drove the local economy, but as that market faded, farmers here refused to give up on agriculture. They adapted — and today the county supports a wide mix of operations, with soybeans, hay, and livestock topping the list. Ninety-four percent of Charles County farms are still family-operated, a number that says a lot about how much of that history has stayed close to home.

Charles County Farm Bureau's focus now is growth: bringing in more ag producers and building an environment where new and prospective growers can find resources, connect with one another, and collectively advocate for ourselves by asserting our voice in local, state, and national policy development.

The Charles County Farm Bureau's mission is to support, advocate for, and foster all aspects of agriculture in Charles County, Maryland.

In the beginning of March, for the week of our Annual Spring Banquet, all donations received benefit our scholarship fund. A program we proudly provide a Charles County Student a scholarship each year from.
